The annual Rhode Island Island Country Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony took place on Monday Columbus Day, October 10, 2016 at the Post 15 American Legion in E. Greenwich, RI 1-5pm. Congratulations to the two inductees, Cindy Lane and David Guilbeault. The honorary inductees were Dick Lucky & Betty Walsh and Paul & Joann Johnson. There was a big crowd to welcome the new inductees. Several hall of famers and other musicians as well, performed and made for a nice time. The only thing lacking was more steel guitar players. Yours truly could have used a break, but we had fun.

For over a year now Jim Davis has given the Tiverton VFW a fine lift since he started running dances with LIVE country bands there every Sunday from 6-10pm. The schedule for November/ December is: 11/6 Farmhands, 11/13 Country Fab 4+1, 11/20 Cindy Lane & the Double E, 11/27 Crossfire, 12/4 Farmhands, 12/11 Cindy Lane & the Double E, 12/18 Crossfire, 12/25 Santa Claus (no band). All of the Nov./Dec. bands have a steel except for the Farmhands. For more info call "the Wheeler & Dealer" Jim Davis at 401-624-2041.

The Rhode Island Steel Guitar Association enjoyed a return to the "good old days". Congratulations to Jim Rice for hosting an exciting time starting at 3pm with Roger Trahan playing the Star Spangle Banner to a full house. President Jim Rice was like a politician announcing and informing the audience about each performer`s background, revealing if they were democrat or republican. (only kidding about the last seven words.)  The steel pickers, in order of appearance were: Freddie Krause, Vinny Doyle, Peter Hart, Roger Trahan, Tony Palmer, Karen Sarkisian, Manny Escobar and Chris Brooks. The steel show was not without variety. At 6pm the audience was entertained by the guest band "South County Line", with Roger Trahan on steel. Next was Manny Escobar on his set that included three singers, Jim Davis, Joann Svendsen and Jo Vierra. Then we had a lot of fun with the audience enjoying a jam session with Freddie Krause, Roger Trahan, Chris Brooks, Manny Escobar and Karin Sarkisian. Chris Brooks closed out the show 8:30-9:00 with a good number of patrons still there. The house band consisted of Eddie Fenner on guitar, Harry Card on drums, and Elaine Ellis on bass. They did a fine job for SIX hours and proved that a musician can have stamina when needed. In summing up let me say that RISGA rules!     p.s. I almost forgot, the next quarterly meeting is November 20, 2016 at the same Tiverton VFW, 134 Shove St. Come join or just come and jam in a large circle for a good time, 12-4pm. For more info call President Jim Rice at 978-486-3719 or Vice President Jo Vierra at 401-683-7437.

FROM GORDY BROWN (MCMAA Historian)

"I'm starting to sell off my collection of stuff at consignment store in Waltham. However, I have tons of pics both local (dupes) and national that could raise some funds for MCMAA and Hall of Fame. 8x10's could bring $5 ea. and $10 each if autographed."
